Visiting Specialists: Gynecology, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Rheumatology

Aboriginal Health Services - cultural support to make services more accessible to the aboriginal community.

Acute Care Services - Services include Pediatrics, Palliative Care, Special Care Unit, Obstetrical Services, 24 hour Emergency Services, Day Surgery and Caesarian Sections.

Cardiac Rehabilitation – For people experiencing heart disease or at risk for developing heart disease. Includes education, lifestyle counselling and rehabilitation.

Cardiac Wellness - Services use a multi-disciplinary approach which includes post Myocardial Infarction classes, nutrition and sexual health.

Clinical Nutrition and Diabetes Education - Nutrition support for a variety of conditions, Diabetes support, “Healthy Eating” classes.

Community Rehabilitation Program - Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Respiratory Therapy services.

Continuing Care (Nursing Home) - Holistic approach to long term care for clients who have been assessed as requiring continuing care, Respite Care.

Diabetes Education - Program which provides education to groups and individuals for management of diabetes.

Diagnostic Services - Includes laboratory and radiology.

Educational Services - Provides ongoing educational opportunities for staff in order that they maintain and develop their skills.
Family Room - To allow for a significant other to stay with patient.

Mental Health - Counselling and crisis intervention provided, and short-term counselling. Clinic appointments provided for Tele Psychiatry.

Pastoral Care - Spiritual encouragement and counselling is provided.

Palliative Care – A comprehensive program for people in the end stages of life. Community and institutional support available.

Pharmacy - Provides discharge education and clinical support.

Recreation Therapy - Services are intended to assist in maintaining or restoring independence through leisure involvement and socialization.

Volunteer Services - coordinates all Volunteer services for health care.

Services:

Audiology - Services include prevention, identification and treatment of hearing balance and related disorders. Clinic held every Monday in conjunction with Alberta Audiology Associates (723-6689).

Community Adult Day Support Program – Designed to enhance the physical, mental, spiritual and emotional well-being of frail elderly and/or adults with functional limitations by utilizing an interdisciplinary approach in a therapeutic environment (723-4332).

Community Nutrition - Provides consultation to the general public and professionals. Education through group presentations, community nutrition program planning, development and evaluation.

Dental - Provides dental health education, promotion and consultations for selected age groups.

Environmental Health - Public Health Inspectors protect health in the areas of communicable disease, food safety, housing, personal service facilities, water supplies, institutions, air quality, solid and liquid waste, and recreation facilities.

Public Health Nursing - Includes communicable disease control, short-stay maternity program, healthy beginnings, well-child clinic, immunization clinics, reproductive health, community genetics and parenting support.

Speech and Language Pathology - Prevents, assesses and treats communication disorders including speech, language, stuttering and related disorders.

Reproductive Health - Provides counselling and services to promote healthy decision making on issues concerning reproductive health.

Community Genetics - Coordinates genetic counselling, testing and support for individuals and families at risk for or affected by a genetic condition or birth defect.

Physiotherapy - Services all outpatient and community referrals including WCB referrals.

Evergreens Foundation - The Evergreens Foundation is a management body comprised of seven municipalities, including Edson. The Foundation’s mission is to provide in a respectful and supportive manner, a continuum of housing options that promote quality of life and independence. Parkland Senior Citizens Lodge - Part of the Evergreens Foundation, Parkland Lodge is a large facility with 55 units and a beautiful park, complete with walking paths and gazebos.

Heatherwood Manor & Heritage Court Senior Apartments — 55 units

This program provides one-bedroom apartments to low to moderate income seniors. Rental rates are based upon 30% of income. Set cable and electricity fees are added to rental costs. Parking stall rentals are extra.
