Edson, Alberta, July 18th, 2012 – The Municipal Census has been completed and the Town of Edson’s numbers have been released. The 2012 census shows a total population on 8,646, up approximately 2% from the 2011 federal census which totaled 8,475.

The larger census number will allow the Town to qualify for more funding through population based government grants, and the age group data will allow us to better chose the types of programming and services the community requires today and in the future.

The Town of Edson would like to thank everyone who participated in, and worked on the census this year!

I'm pleased to see people taking part in the census. Edson is a great community and is on the cusp of exploding into a city. Saying that I would love to see everyone especially the "powers that be" continue to excel our town and never settle for the "status quo" which seems to happen time and time again. Keep up the good work Edsonites!
