Council Notes - April 4th, 2017

Glenwood Rezoning Bylaw. Council has defeated proposed Bylaw 2193, to rezone a lot in Glenwood from R-1B (Single Family Residential) to R-MHS (Mobile Home Subdivision). A number of concerns were heard at the Public Hearing in March and Council voted the proposal down 0-4 in a recorded vote. Councillors Boyce, Strang, Bevan and Chouinard all voted in opposition. Mayor Pasychny and Councillor Gomuwka could not vote as they were not present for the Public Hearing, and Councillor Wilkinson was absent.

Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain Expansion. Council has forwarded the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain Pipeline right of way agreements back to Administration for further clarification.

Coat of Arms. Council has approved Administration to make an official request for a Grant of Armorial Bearings (Coat of Arms) for the Town of Edson. A letter will now be sent to the Canadian Heraldic Authority to begin the process, which could take 12-14 months from the time the request is approved.

IDP Steering Committee. Council has appointed Mayor Pasychny, and Councillors Strang and Bevan to the Inter Municipal Development Plan Review and Update Steering Committee. This is a joint committee with Yellowhead County to review the IDP governing areas in the Edson Urban Fringe.

Next meetings - The next Committee of the Whole meeting will be held April 11th, 2017 at 10am. The next Council Meeting will be held April 18th, 2017 at 7:30pm.
