Inter-Municipal Development Plan. A Public Hearing was held for Bylaw 2200, updating the existing Inter-Municipal Development Plan (IDP). The plan was previously adopted in 2007 and was updated this year following much public consultation. Representatives of Lovatt Planning Consultants gave a brief presentation on the changes, which includes updates required under the proposed changes to the Municipal Government Act. Council then gave second and third reading to the bylaw, enacting the changes.

Tax Exemption. Council gave approval to a tax exemption for the Lions Club building, located in Lions Park in accordance to Alberta Regulation number 281. This exemption status is effective for the 2018 tax year, and will be allowed for a maximum of three consecutive years under this decision.

Trails Master Plan. Council has adopted the Trails Master Plan and directed Administration to begin implementation. The plan assesses current pedestrian infrastructure (with a primary emphasis placed on the trails system) and establishes measures by which it can be improved in the short and long terms. The Trails Master Plan can be viewed on our website at http://www.edson.ca/residents/parks-and-facilities/parks-and-walking-trails

Community Services Strategic Plan. Council has adopted the Edson and Yellowhead County Community Services Strategic Plan. This study was a joint effort between the Town of Edson and Yellowhead County to generate a non-biased, evidence-based analysis of facilities and services provided by the Community Services' Departments in our region. Council also directed administration to formulate an action plan based on the findings. The full report is available for public viewing on our website at http://www.edson.ca/departments/community-services
