Monthly Utility Billing
Edson, Alberta, December 8th, 2015 – Some changes are coming to Edson utility bills.
Council has approved a change in the Utilities Bylaw to move from bi-monthly billing to monthly billing starting January 1, 2016.
Over the past number of years the Town has been replacing water meters with new radio frequency meters, allowing utility reads to be done much faster. With these changes now in place it’s possible to switch to a monthly billing system.
There are a number of benefits to monthly billing including better budgeting opportunities for residents, the ability to detect problems faster, and a more accurate analysis of production versus usage.
This change has no effect on actual utility rates, which will be reviewed during the budget process this month.
To help deal with the rising postage costs, and for the ease of residents that use electronic banking, the Town of Edson is also now offering a new e-billing option. This allows residents to receive bills through their email. Paper copies will still be provided for those not signing up for this service.
