Plane Repainting - RCMP Centennial Park
UPDATE - The move has been delayed until at least Thursday following some rain.
The Lockheed T-33 Silver Star located in Edson’s RCMP Centennial Park will be moved this week.
On Wednesday August 2nd, 2017, the plane will be taken down for sandblasting and repainting. The last refurbishment occurred in 1999 when the aircraft was first removed, sandblasted, and painted. The aircraft was installed in the park in 1984 and is a tribute to local RCAF pilots and aircrew veterans. A partnership between the Royal Canadian Air Cadets Tiger Moth Squadron #874, The Royal Canadian Legion Joe Wynn Branch #51, and the Town of Edson, are ensuring the legacy of the aircraft remains well preserved.
Captain Kelly Jensen of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets Tiger Moth Squadron #874, anticipates that the process will go smoothly and the aircraft will be ready for re-installation this fall.
