Better Balance

Mondays 11:10-11:40 am

October 26th- Dec 7th

This 8-week program is designed for participants who are interested in improving their balance. Focus will be on increasing education on fall prevention as well as building endurance in the muscles responsible for balance. Exercises will be done from standing with a few options to go down to the floor on a mat or to be seated in a chair. This class will be led by Meika Visser, Clinical Exercise Physiologist.

Joint Effort

This 8-week program is designed for participants who are interested in improving their joint health. Focus will be on increasing education on the anatomy and functioning of the knees and hips specifically as well as building strength and endurance in the muscles that support those joints. Exercises will be done from seated and standing with options to go down to the floor on a mat. This class will be led by Meika Visser, Clinical Exercise Physiologist.

Seniors Chair Yoga

Good news! You don't have to bend yourself into a pretzel to do yoga. This weekly class will consist of yoga poses that are seated or chair-assisted, making them accessible and fun. Bring your friends and share a class that will brighten your spirits, clear your mind, boost your circulation, and stretch and strengthen your body.

Evening Cycle

Take your fitness to the next level with Evening Cycle It will include plenty of HILLS, interval training, strength drills and endurance rides. Bikes will be placed 3 metres apart and you will use your designated bike for the entire session.

Outdoor Lunch Crunch

Join us on your lunch hour for a 40 min cardio/strength blast. We will be using a variety of different methods to get that heart rate pumping. Strength components will also be added in! Please bring a mat and water bottle and dress for the weather.

Noon Cycle 

Hop on your bike for a quick lunch time ride. It will include metabolic training, intervals, strength drills and endurance rides. All abilities welcome! Bikes will be placed 3m apart and you will use your designated bike for the whole session.

Strength and Stretch 

Join us for the best of both worlds! We will go through resistance training exercises using various equipment including free weights, gliders and bands. We will follow this up with stretches that will help lengthen those tight muscles.

Steps taken by the Town of Edson to keep you safe while attending our classes:

  1. The class size is limited to ensure proper physical distancing can be adhered too.
  2. Hand sanitizer will be provided to use before and after the class.
  3. Classes will not require the use of any shared equipment.

Participant Requirements:

  1. All participants should practice physical distancing to help limit the spread of COVID-19 and reduce the risk of getting sick.Keep atleast 2 meters (about the length of a hockey stick) distance from all other participants and the instructor,
  2. Do not attend class if you are experiencing any symptoms:cough, fever, cold, sore throat, etc.

You will have to acknowledge that you have not:

  • Been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 10 days
  • Left the country within the last 14 days
  • Experienced any of the following symptoms within the last 10 days:

o Cough,

o Fever,

o Shortness of breath,

o Runny nose, or

o Sore throat.
