Council Notes - April 18th, 2019

Special Meeting. A Special Meeting of Council was set for April 23rd, 2019 at 5:00 pm in Council Chambers. The meeting was set to allow for a presentation from the Town’s Auditor regarding the 2018 Financial Statements.

Peace Officer Appointment. Council has appointed Jim Desautels as a Community Peace Officer/Bylaw Officer for the Town of Edson. As a part of recent structure changes, Jim Desautels has taken on the role of Enforcement Services Manager, which required this appointment to carry out his duties to enforce municipal bylaws.

AUMA Resolution. Council has authorized Administration to submit a resolution to the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association. The resolution urges the Provincial Government to consider review and institution of an aviation fuel fee, in order to attribute a portion of the cost of community airports directly to the user.

Mayor for a Day. Youth Council has been directed to review a proposed Mayor for a Day program for the Town of Edson. They will present their findings to Town Council at an upcoming Committee of the Whole Meeting.

2019 March Quarterly Report. Council accepted the 2019 March Quarterly Report as information.

Next meeting - The next Town Council Meeting (Special) is scheduled for April 23rd, 2019 at 5:00 pm. The next Committee of the Whole Meeting is scheduled for April 23rd, 2019, following the Special Council Meeting.
