The Edson Fire Department responded to a major structure fire at 5:00 AM at 5625 4th Avenue, Edson Honda.

There was heavy flame and smoke in the southwest corner of the building on arrival and mutual aid was requested from Yellowhead County. Crews were able to quickly knock down and contain the flames, however, crews remained on scene for over 8 hours battling the fire. About 22 firefighters were on scene from both Edson Fire and Yellowhead County Fire, along with 5 major apparatus, including 3 engines, an aerial unit, and the heavy rescue truck. RCMP, EMS, utility crews and other responders were also on scene.

Due to the large scale of the fire, an investigation will be launched jointly with Edson Fire, RCMP, and the insurance companies involved. There is no determination on cause or damage estimate at this time.
