Edson Town Council has accepted the resignation of Chief Administrative Officer Mike Derricott.
Derricott has been Edson’s CAO since early 2015 and, while excited about taking on a new opportunity as CAO of the Town of Cochrane, he says his family has been privileged to spend six years in this community.
“Reflecting on my time in Edson, I’m immensely gratified by all of the great programs and policies that my team have worked to produce on behalf of the taxpayers. Edson has provided my family and I with a multitude of memories and relationships that will endure with us for many years. I would also like to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Town of Edson staff for their dedication and commitment.”
Mayor Kevin Zahara says CAO Derricott has provided Edson with tremendous leadership over the last 6 years, implementing Council’s Strategic Priorities.
“Our Council expresses our gratitude to Mike for his contributions to our community. We wish him well as he moves onto his new role in the Town of Cochrane. Council has already started the recruitment process for a permanent replacement which we expect to be complete in the spring of 2021.”
Zahara adds, “While the recruitment process is underway, Council has complete confidence in the exceptional staff we have throughout our organization who will ensure continuity of programs and services residents depend on. We expect to name an interim CAO shortly, who will handle the day-to day operations until the position is filled."
Derricott’s last day will be December 31st, 2020.
