Assessment Update. Edson’s assessor Aaron Steblyk gave a presentation to Council outlining the current status of assessment in the community. A lot of focus was put on non-residential this year, but he’s also been visiting residential properties and ensuring everyone is getting a fair and equitable assessment. He did mention some areas may see significant changes, some higher and some lower. Steblyk also touched on some potential provincial legislation that could affect the way companies like Weyerhaeuser are assessed.

Hillendale Lot Sales. Council has agreed to enter into a sales representation agreement with Royal LePage, Alpine Realty 3%, Century 21 Twin Realty and Remax Boxshaw Four Realty in respect to the sale of Town owned lots in Hillendale Phase II. The initial agreement is for a term of one year.

Willmore Caretaker. Council has awarded the tender for the Willmore Park seasonal caretaker contract to Richard and Deanna Mitchener in the amount of $1,700 per month. The caretaker will be on site during the active months at the Park.

Edson and Area Community Services Strategic Plan. Council has agreed to fund 50% of the Edson/Yellowhead County Community Services Strategic Plan. This process aims to engage the region on all things that incorporate Community Services for future facilities and programming. That includes items such as Parks, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Museums, Archives, Library and more.

VE-Day Parade. Council has given permission for the Royal Canadian Legion Joe Wynne Branch 51 to hold their VE-Day parade on May 7th starting at 10:30 am. The Route will commence in the Legion parking lot, march east on 5th Avenue to 50th Street, north on 50th Street to 7th Avenue, west on 7th Avenue to 51st Street, south on 51st Street to 5th Avenue, past the Cenotaph and into the Legion parking lot.

Tenders. Council has accepted the bids from Prime West Contracting for the 2016 Pavement Patching contract and from A & M Concrete for the 2016 Concrete Sidewalk, Curb & Gutter Replacement Program.

Next meetings - A Committee of the Whole Meeting is planned for April 27th, 2016 at 10:00am in the Council Chambers of the Edson Civic Building. The next Council Meeting will be May 3rd, 2016 at 7:30pm.
