Council Notes - April 8th, 2014
Protective Services. Council approved third reading of Bylaw No. 2139, amending Schedule “C” of Bylaw No. 1872 (Protective Services Terms of Reference). The new Schedule “C” updates the Terms of Reference to reflect changes in the role and function of the Committee over the years.
Tenders. Council awarded the 2014 Pavement Patching Services Tender to Prime West Contracting as the only bidder for the project. Council also awarded the 2014 Concrete Sidewalk, Curb, and Gutter Program Tender to A & M Concrete. Again this was the only tender received, but it was noted the prices were very competitive to previous years.
Historical Society Council Representative. Council has approved the removal of one Council representative position on the Edson and District Historical Society Board. As the museum was being built and the Board was being restructured two representatives were appointed to help with the start up phase. As the Board is now well established, Council feels only one representative is necessary. Councillor Jim Gomuwka will remain as the Council representative on the Board with Councillor Janet Wilkinson as the Alternate
Environmental Accomplishment. Council received a Certificate of Environmental Accomplishment as information. The Certificate indicates the Town of Edson, through the Shred-it™ shredding and recycling program, has saved 39.20 trees from destruction in 2013.
The next Council Meeting is scheduled for April 15th at 7:30pm in the Council Chambers of the Edson Civic Building.
