Council Notes - February 6th, 2018
Delegations. Mark Pederson of Can Pak Environmental Inc. gave a brief presentation on the plans for curbside waste collection in Edson starting this May, as well as details on how curbside recycling would work through his company.
Council also heard from Marie Bay Breiner of the Athabasca Watershed Council. She outlined the goals and mandates of the Athabasca Watershed Council, and touched on memberships and some of the issues facing Alberta’s watershed regions.
Deputy Mayor. Councillor Bevan was appointed as Deputy Mayor commencing March 1, 2018 and expiring the first day of July 2018.
Alberta Rural Education Symposium. Council has approved Councillor Currie’s attendance at the Alberta Rural Education Symposium from March 4-6, 2018. Council was invited to participate by the GYPSD.
Recreation Complex Letter. A letter from Yellowhead County regarding the Request for Proposal process for the Edson and District Recreation Complex was accepted for information. Earlier in the day council had met with Yellowhead County in a joint meeting and discussions surrounding the Rec Complex had taken place. Council has decided to move forward with the RFP at this time, but will consider this letter in deliberations regarding the potential sale of the building.
Letter of Support. Council has authorized the Mayor to send a letter to the Medically At-Risk Driver Centre in support of developing a solution to the transportation challenges of medically at-risk individuals and seniors in the Yellowhead region
Next meetings - The next Committee of the Whole Meeting is scheduled for February 13th, 2018 at 10:00 am in Council Chambers. The next Council Meeting is scheduled for February 20th, 2018 at 7:30 pm in Council Chambers.
