Council Notes - March 4th, 2014

Boys and Girls Club Rent. Council approved the Boys and Girls Club Lease Agreement for a 5 year term from January 1st, 2014 to December 31, 2018 for a rental fee of $400.00/month. All other terms remain the same.

Bulk Wastewater Rates. Council passed a motion for the bulk wastewater rate changes to take effect once the Wastewater Dispensing Station becomes operational. Originally the rate changes were set to go into effect March 1st.

Airport Loader. Council has rescinded the motion from February 11th, 2014 regarding the 2014 Loader Tender from SMS Equipment as a clerical error was discovered and GST was not included in the number presented to Council. A new motion was passed to accept the tender from SMS equipment in the amount of $189,152.00 + GST along with the options listed in the amount of $53,800.00 plus GST. SMS Equipment remained the lowest bid.

Compassionate Care Leave. Council has rescinded the Supplementary Sick leave Policy and approved a new policy to remove compassionate care leave as the Province has set a new policy in that regard.

Subdivision. Council has agreed to subdivide the two recently closed lanes in Pine Avenue and Spruce Street and consolidate them into the adjacent lots.

Development Permits. Council has approved an extension of the Development Permit for 4 Storage Tanks with Containment and Fence on Rodeo Road for an additional year with the same terms and conditions as set out in the original permit.

Council has also approved a development permit for 2 existing sheds and an existing deck at Edson RV and Campground on Golf Course Road. The land is zoned as Direct Control and the developer will also be required to hard surface as a condition of the development permit.

Deputy Mayor. Councillor Boyce was appointed as Deputy Mayor, effective immediately, until the first regular meeting in July, 2014.

The next Council Meeting is scheduled for March 18th at 7:30pm in the Council Chambers of the Edson Civic Building.
