Council Notes - May 27th, 2014

Delegations. Matrix Planning representatives were on hand to introduce themselves to Council. Matrix was awarded the contract to do the review and update of the Land Use Bylaw and Municipal Development Plan. In a brief update on the project it was noted there will be plenty of opportunities for both Council and Public input during the course of the project.

Marsh Hoke spoke to Council on issues with Provincial FCSS funding. Hoke asked that municipal leaders speak with the Province about raising FCSS funding, which has had no increases for nearly 10 years. He says municipalities have had to step up and pay more than their share to keep the programs afloat.

Subdivision. Council approved a subdivision application at 50th street and 11th Avenue to divide the existing two lots into four. This will allow two duplexes to be built with each unit having a separate title.

Mower Tender. Council has awarded the Tender for a Four Wheel Drive 72” Cut Mower to KeyAg Ventures in the amount of $22,896.30 including GST. Key Ag was the lowest bid of three submissions.

Council Meeting Cancellation. The Council meeting scheduled for June 3, 2014 has been cancelled as a number of Councillors and Administration are away for the Federation of Municipalities Conference.

The next Council Meeting is scheduled for June 10th at 1:00pm in the Council Chambers of the Edson Civic Building.
