Council Notes - May 4th, 2021
Rezoning Application. Council has defeated first reading of Land Use Bylaw Amendment Bylaw 2258. This bylaw would have rezoned land at 46th Street and 4th Avenue from Commercial to Single Family Residential. Council felt this change did not align with the Planning Statutory Documents, and the overall plans in that neighbourhood.
Business License for Home Occupation. Authorization was given for the Town’s Development Authority to approve a home occupation business licence application at 49th Street and 6th Avenue. This is a permitted use under the current zoning, however, requires Council approval as it is a Direct Control zone.
Development Permit Application. Council has approved a development permit for a wall sign on a property at 51st Street and 2nd Avenue. Again, this required Council approval as the property is zoned as Direct Control.
Patio Policy. Council has adopted the new Temporary Seasonal Outdoor Patio on Public Lands Policy. This policy was designed to ease restrictions and simplify the process for businesses to set up patios in areas where they may not have private space available when allowed to do so. Council also approved the waiving of the $100 application fee for the 2021 season.
Next meetings - The next Committee of the Whole Meeting is scheduled for May 11th, 2021 at 7:00 pm. The next Council Meeting is scheduled for May 18th, 2021 at 7:00 pm.
