Council Notes - October 15th, 2013
Edson West Area Structure Plan. Council has given third and final reading to Bylaw 2118 to bring the Edson West Area Structure Plan online. This plan has been in the works for some time, but final approval couldn’t be given until the Offsite Levy Bylaw was put in place.
Land Purchase. Council has agreed to purchase a portion of land south of the airport for use as a municipal sidewalk. During construction of the new Jerry Ford building it was discovered the municipal sidewalk that was running along the south side of the property was located on private land. The developer allowed the Town access to rebuild the sidewalk to the new grade and has agreed to sell the land to the Town at a price of $5.92/sq.ft. plus GST, which is equal to what the developer paid for the property.
Development Permit. A Development Permit has been approved by Council to put an addition on the north side of the existing shop at 111 Rodeo Road. This land is zoned as Direct Control and required Council approval before proceeding.
Town Manager Contract. Council has extended the employment contract between the Town of Edson and Clarence Joly to December 31st, 2014.
Board Appointment. Council has appointed Carol Kneteman to the Edson & District Community Services Board for another three year term ending October 31st, 2016.
The next Council Meeting is scheduled for October 29th at 7:30pm in the Council Chambers of the Edson Civic Building. The new Council will be sworn in at that time and the Organizational meeting will also take place.
