Council Notes - October 15th, 2019

Delegation. Council received a presentation from Grande Prairie Regional College outlining who they are, what they do, and some of the programs they offer. They now have a programmer based in Edson and they are hoping to expand services in this region. More information on their programming can be found at   

Snow and Ice Control Policy. Council reviewed the new Snow and Ice Control Policy and sent it back to Administration for review and updates. The item will be brought back at a future Committee of the Whole meeting for further discussion.

House Demolition. Council has approved a Notice of Decision to allow for the demolition of a single-family home at 4921 5th Avenue. The property is in the Direct Control District and requires Council approval for any applications to go through.

Subdivision Applications Extension. Approval was given for a time extension on subdivision application for property on the west side of 63rd Street, part of the Anderson Area Structure Plan. A one-year extension was granted, expiring on October 31st, 2020.

Economic Development Advocate. Council has approved a letter to be sent to regional Mayors and Councils to request formal support for the role and funding of an economic development advocate to help solicit business to the region.

Quarterly Report – The 2019 September Quarterly Report was accepted as presented.

Next meetings - The next Committee of the Whole Meeting is scheduled for October 22nd, 2019 at 7:00 pm in Council Chambers. The next Council Meeting is scheduled for November 5th, 2019 at 7:00 pm
