Council Notes - October 20th, 2020 Organizational Meeting

Council Boards and Committees. One of the duties as Mayor is to appoint Councillors to specific boards and committees. The updated schedule was approved, and the new list can be found HERE. Due to COVID disruptions, not many changes were made this year.

Meeting Schedule. The Council meeting schedule will continue as is. Both the Regular Council Meeting and Committee of the Whole Meeting times will remain at 7:00 pm. Regular Council meetings will be held the first and third Tuesdays of each month and Committee of the Whole meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.

Summer Schedule. Council has set the summer (July/August) meeting schedule for 2021. Committee of the Whole Meetings will be held July 13, 2021 and August 10, 2021, with Regular Meetings of Council being held at 7pm on July 20, 2021 and August 17, 2021.

Deputy Mayor Rotation. Council will continue to rotate the position of Deputy Mayor every 4 months on the schedule established at the 2019 organizational meeting:

  • Councillor Krystal Baier - November 1, 2019 to February 29, 2020 (Complete)
  • Councillor Trevor Bevan - March 1, 2020 to June 30, 2020 (Complete)
  • Councillor Gean Chouinard - July 1, 2020 to October 31, 2020 (Near Completion)
  • Councillor Jacqui Currie - November 1, 2020 to February 28, 2021
  • Councillor Troy Sorensen - March 1, 2021 to June 30, 2021
  • Councillor Janet Wilkinson - July 1, 2021 to October 2021 Election

Legislative Responsibilities. Council received a memo from CAO Mike Derricott, outlining the legislative responsibilities of Council, as information.

Important Dates 2021. Council received a memo on upcoming Council related events as information.


Council Notes - October 20th, 2020

FCSS Advisory Committee. Council has approved the Family and Community Support Services Advisory Committee terms of reference. This formalizes Council’s roles and responsibilities as the FCSS Advisory Committee.

Subdivision Application Time Extension.  Approval was given for a time extension for plan endorsement on a subdivision of vacant lands west of 63rd Street for 1 year. The new expiry date is October 31, 2021.

Quarterly Report. The 2020 September Quarterly Report was accepted as presented.

Library Board Members. Council has approved the appointment of five new Library Board members. This fills the board and includes representation from both Town and County residents.

Next meetings - The next Committee of the Whole Meeting is scheduled for October 27th, 2020 at 7:00 pm in Council Chambers. The next Council Meeting is scheduled for November 3rd, 2020 at 7:00 pm.
