Land Use Bylaw Amendments.

A Public Hearing was held for Bylaw 2261, to add “Retail Establishment” as a permitted use in the C-2 Service Commercial District. There were no public submissions. Council passed second and third reading.

A Public Hearing was held for Bylaw 2262, to adjust the Land Use Bylaw to reflect changes to recent provincial legislation. There were no public submissions. Council passed second and third reading.

First reading was given to Bylaw 2263, amending the Land Use Bylaw to adjust how hotels and motels are listed in the various commercial zones. This will also add hotels and motels as a discretionary use in C-2 Service Commercial Districts. A public hearing has been set for October 5th, 2021 at 7pm at the regularly scheduled Council Meeting. First reading was given to Bylaw 2264, amending the Land Use Bylaw adjust for changes in billboard approval processes and management. Mandatory Facial Covering Bylaw. Council has defeated third reading of Bylaw 2266, the Mandatory Facial Covering Bylaw. A Provincial Mask Mandate was put in place on September 4th.

Tax Recovery Auction Date. Approval was given to set the public auction date for recovery of unpaid property taxes for November 16th, 2021.

Cancellation of Meetings. Council has approved the cancellation of the Committee of the Whole meetings for September 28th, 2021, and October 12th, 2021, due to the upcoming municipal election.

Vision Park Revitalization Plan. Council has approved the Vision Park Revitalization Plan and given support for moving forward with Phase 1. This plan will guide work being down at Vision Park in the future but remains dependant on the budgets provided by Council.

Financial Statements. The 2020 Year End Consolidated Financial Statements were approved as presented.  The statements will now be sent to Municipal Affairs and posted to our website.


Next meetings - The next Committee of the Whole Meeting is scheduled for September 14th, 2021, at 7:00 pm. The next Council Meeting is scheduled for September 21st, 2021, at 7:00 pm.
