This morning at approximately 8:45am, the Edson Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the Downtown area.
On arrival, the building was fully involved and Edson crews worked quickly to contain the blaze and ensure there was no spread to nearby buildings. Mutual aid from Yellowhead County and Hinton were also called to assist with equipment and manpower.
The building was lost to the fire, but all adjacent buildings were spared, with the exception of some water and smoke damage.
The building was located in Edson’s Downtown core and housed businesses and a number of apartments. On top of the loss of businesses and homes, the building also holds some historical significance, being constructed around 1920.
Edson Fire would like to thank our mutual aid partners, as well as the RCMP, EMS, Public Works, and other responders that helped contain the fire to the single structure.
