A familiar name is returning to Edson’s pool and arena sports complex. The facility will be reverting back to the ‘Edson and District Leisure Centre’ in the new year, following the conclusion of the naming rights agreement with Repsol. The naming rights were originally agreed to by Talisman Energy in 2014 and transferred to Repsol in 2015 following their acquisition of Talisman Energy.
Edson Mayor Kevin Zahara says the Town is grateful for the sponsorship provided by Repsol at our facility over the years. “Without great corporate partners such as Repsol, our community would not be as vibrant and sustainable as it is”.
The Town of Edson is reviewing options for naming rights, but the focus will be on construction and naming rights for the new joint Edson and Yellowhead County Recreation Multi-Use Facility Project. Ground-breaking is planned for the proposed new facility in 2022.
Over the next several weeks patrons may see some signage changes and other adjustments to reflect the new facility name.
