The Town of Edson is asking residents to help keep hydrants clear of snow and ice. Following a snowfall, residents with fire hydrants on their property, or in front of their homes, are asked to keep the hydrant clear for emergency operations. Ideally, all hydrants would have a 1.5-metre radius shoveled around it.
While fire crews are able to remove the snow in an emergency, they'd much rather be using that precious time to quickly hook up and focus on other tasks.
Crews are currently working on clearing hydrants on town property and other non-residential areas.
If you are physically unable to clear the hydrant, or notice a problem area, please contact Public Works at 780-723-6461.
