The Town of Edson is bringing in a mattress recycling program to help keep old mattresses out of the landfill.
Beginning in late June, all mattresses hauled to the Town of Edson Landfill site will be diverted from landfill and hauled to a recycling facility in Edmonton. The program is being funded, in part, from the $20 surcharge for mattresses that was initiated in early June. It’s expected this program will divert 1000 mattress per year. That is equivalent to about 55,000 pounds of material diverted from our landfill annually.
