Miette Hiking Incident
Edson, Alberta, August 1st, 2013 – Yesterday afternoon at approximately 3 pm during a hiking trip at Miette Hot Springs, a participant of a Youth Interagency program became separated from the group.
The Miette Hot Springs emergency plan was activated and a ground/helicopter search was initiated. Jasper RCMP was also involved in the search.
Approximately four hours after she went missing RCMP gave notification that she had been located. She had been spotted by search and rescue and was transported back to Miette by helicopter. She was found in good spirits with minor injuries.
The Town of Edson would like to thank Parks Canada Staff, RCMP, Search and Rescue members and the Youth Interagency Supervisors who assisted in the search. We are extremely happy to have everyone back in Edson safely.
