New Provincial Restrictions - Edson Response
Posted on
New, enhanced, public health measures have been enacted by the Provincial Government. This includes the introduction of a Restriction Exemption Program (REP), social gathering limits, capacity limits, masking, working from home mandate, and more.
For a full list of Provincial restrictions and the effective dates, please visit https://www.alberta.ca/covid-19-public-health-actions.aspx.
With the enactment of a State of Public Health Emergency by the Province, and the rapid spike of local case numbers, the Town of Edson Emergency Coordination Centre (ECC) has been reactivated and an Emergency Management Advisory Committee (EMAC) meeting is planned to review the Provincial changes and how it impacts our community.
We ask everyone to review the Provincial guidelines and reduce personal contacts to help bring this rise in cases under control.
The Civic Centre/Public Works Building/Pound/Fire Hall will remain open Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm, but with reduced staff following the announcement of the mandatory work from home order. In person payments and inquiries will still be accepted at this time, however, virtual payments and meetings are recommended. More information on virtual payments can be found at https://www.edson.ca/departments/corporate-services/billing-faq.
More details on Edson’s response will be released following the review of the new measures and as we get more clarification from the province.
Currently, the Edson Zone is reporting 184 active cases, an increase of 102 since Friday’s update. Our active case rate is 1146.4/100k, which puts us fourth highest per capita in Alberta.
