Playground Zone / School Zone Changes

Playground Zone / School Zone Changes

Posted on October 19th, 2017

UPDATE (Oct 19/17) - A point of clarification. The front of Vanier School will remain a school zone while the Traffic Bylaw review is underway to avoid confusion and to ensure students are protected at the time of drop off and pickup.

Some traffic zones are changing along 6th Avenue and 56th Street.

Following a review with the RCMP and Community Services Department, changes are being implemented near the Vanier Community Catholic School and former Evergreen School.

6th Avenue from 53rd Street to 56th Street, as well as 56th Street from 6th avenue to 10th Avenue are now in the process of being changed to playground zones. This means the entire zone will be reduced to 30 km/h from 8:30 am until 1 hour after sunset.

The signage should be changed over shortly and we ask all motorists to drive with extra caution during the transition time.
