Cougar Sighting in Edson
Edson, Alberta, September 26th, 2013 – The Town of Edson is asking all residents and trail users on the Northeast end of Town to use caution as staff members have spotted a cougar just east of the Hillendale subdivision. Fish and Wildlife has been notified.
Trail users are asked to keep dogs on a leash at all times, walk in groups and keep children close.
If you encounter a cougar on the trails:
- Never approach the cougar and always provide an avenue of escape
- Pick up any children immediately
- Do not run
- Do not turn your back on the cougar
- Make yourself seem large / Don’t crouch or try to hide
