Repsol Place Programming / COVID Restrictions

The Edson Zone (Central Yellowhead County) is now listed as having 9 active cases, 6 recovered, and 1 death. That's a total of 16 cases to date for this region.

In the status map, the Town of Edson falls under Yellowhead County. The Yellowhead County zone IS under the Enhanced category and, therefor, we do fall under some new restrictions put in place by the Province (listed below). Yellowhead County zone now has 14 active cases, 29 recovered, and 2 deaths.

CHANGES AT REPSOL

With new Provincial restrictions in place (see below), there are some changes coming to Repsol Place programming. Sports/team practices/group classes are not allowed under the temporary restrictions. The Provincial sports restrictions go into effect Friday. Watch for new arena/pool schedules soon.

Aquatics

  • All group classes are cancelled at this time. Private one-on-one lessons will continue.
  • Private Rentals (households only) will be allowed at a special rate
  • Lane Swimming availability will be increased

Arenas

  • Private Skating Rentals will be made available (households only)
  • No team games/practices allowed (unless special exemption is received from the Province)

NEW PROVINCIAL RESTRICTIONS (get full details at (https://www.alberta.ca/enhanced-public-health-measures.aspx)

A state of public health emergency is being declared to bring in aggressive new measures to address growing cases, starting Nov. 24.

Mandatory restrictions apply across Alberta:

  • No indoor social gatherings in any setting
  • 10-person limit on outdoor gatherings
  • 10-person limit for wedding and funeral services, no receptions permitted
  • Working from home should be considered, where possible
  • Changes to in-person learning schedules for K-12 students
  • Grades 7-12 students
      • Move to at-home learning Nov. 30 to Jan. 8, except during winter break
      • Resume in-person classes Jan. 11
      • Diploma exams are optional for rest of the school year. Students and families can choose to write an exam or receive an exemption for the January, April, June and August 2021 exams.
  • Grades K-6 students (including Early Childhood Services)
      • Continue in-person learning until their scheduled winter break (generally Dec. 18*)
      • Move to at-home learning after the winter break until Jan. 8
      • Resume in-person classes Jan. 11
