Snow Removal Changes

Posted on

A few key changes were made to the Snow and Ice Policy at Tuesday’s Council Meeting.

A ‘Snow Event’ will now be defined as snow fall accumulation exceeding 10cm in depth (previously 5cm). This means that crews can continue progress without returning to priority routes after a minor snowfall.

Changes were also made to allow the CAO greater flexibility to respond in a timely manner to changing conditions. This includes releasing funds for more resources when necessary, including the hiring of contractors, if available.

A more thorough review of the policy is expected in the spring.
