Edson, Alberta, May 6th, 2014 – Edson is embarking on an innovative and proactive strategy by initiating a Social Needs Assessment in order to gain insight into social needs of our community.
The Town of Edson has hired RC Strategies to assist Council and Administration in planning for the delivery of community based social services/programs through the completion of a Needs Assessment. The Needs Assessment will provide a picture of the community’s social services needs for Edson and area residents and the degree to which these needs are being addressed.
Over the next few months the consultants will be preparing an inventory of social program resources and services in the community. In addition, key stakeholders will be engaged to share their perspectives on the needs in the area.
An important aspect of this engagement will be the fielding of a household survey with community residents. Residents should look in their mailboxes for a questionnaire which will be mailed in May. They will have approximately three weeks to provide their input regarding the local needs for preventative social services.
“The feedback from our residents is extremely important to help us understand the social needs of in the community”, said Mayor Greg Pasychny. “I would strongly encourage everyone participate when given the opportunity to provide input.”
The Needs Assessment is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2014.
