Fish and Wildlife will be starting a new trails project in Edson this week.
Fish and Wildlife Edson receives numerous phone calls annually regarding wildlife in town. Through painting wildlife tracks and placing signage at high human/wildlife use areas, they hope to increase awareness of the wildlife that can be encountered on the trail system, how to avoid conflict with wildlife (such as keeping dogs on a leash), and how to stay safe when walking trails.
On Friday, August 4th, the Hinton Alberta Junior Forest Ranger crew are coming to Edson for a community service project day. The JFRs have created realistic track cut outs and signage, and will be painting tracks, and installing signage. The project will run from 9 am to 3 pm.
This is a joint venture between the Town of Edson, Alberta Fish and Wildlife and the Alberta Junior Forest Ranger project.
