Edson, Alberta, April 14th, 2015 – After careful consideration and multiple studies of the Edson Water Tower, Edson Town Council has made the decision to move forward with the demolition of the structure. Council cited the costs to repair the current structural issues and poor aesthetics as major factors behind the decision. Council has approved the tender from McColman & Sons Demolition Ltd. at a cost of $115,300.00 plus GST for the removal of the Water Tower and underground reservoir.
Council recognizes the historical value of the Edson Water Tower and has directed administration to make every effort to document its removal. The Town will be working closely with the Edson and District Historical Society on preserving this moment in Edson’s history. It is anticipated the demolition will occur in late April or early May.
More details on the date and time of the demolition will be released prior to the Water Tower being removed for anyone that wishes to witness the event.
