8th Avenue Rehabilitation (51-52 St)

8th Avenue currently exhibits significant surface deterioration, including extensive
heaving, bumps, and dips along the entire corridor. To address these issues and improve
the overall safety and functionality of the roadway, a full reconstruction from property
line to property line is planned.
The design for this comprehensive rehabilitation project has been completed, and
construction is scheduled to begin on June 23, 2025, with substantial completion
expected by the end of the year.
Key components of the project include:
- Full replacement of the water main, including all service connections
- Replacement of the sanitary sewer, including services and manholes
- Installation of a new storm sewer system, including manholes and catch basins
- Reconstruction of concrete sidewalks, curbs, and gutters
- Driveway and sidewalk tie-ins to ensure seamless transitions
- Asphalt paving of the roadway
- Boulevard landscaping and drainage improvements
This essential infrastructure upgrade will not only resolve the current roadway
deficiencies but will also enhance the reliability of underground utilities and improve
safety, accessibility, and overall quality of life for area residents. Further updates will be provided as the project progresses.
Some important notes regarding the project.
- The contractor will be working with residents in the area to ensure access to their homes during construction.

- Expect closures from 51st to 52nd Street, including the 52nd intersection. Parking will be limited — please use adjacent streets or alley access if applicable.
