Overview:

FCSS Advisory Board Bylaw 2285
Overview:
Help shape the future of learning, literacy, and connection in Edson. Board members support policy development, strategic planning, and inclusive programming.
Key Focus Areas:
- Library services and strategic planning
- Community learning and public access
- Oversight of the Plan of Service
How to Apply:
Appointments occur during annual recruitment each fall.

Establishing Library Board Bylaw 1879
Amend Library Board Bylaw 1922
Overview:
Edson Youth Council connects youth directly to municipal decision-making. Members raise ideas, provide input, and grow as civic leaders.
Key Focus Areas:
- Youth leadership and advocacy
- Community engagement and volunteerism
- Input on Town programs and services
How to Join:
Open to youth ages 13–18 who attend school or live in Edson. Applications open in early fall.
Governing Policy:
Youth Council Policy C-S-7
Overview:
A liaison between the community and local law enforcement, this committee helps align policing priorities with Edson’s needs.
Key Focus Areas:
- Community safety and crime prevention
- Engagement with RCMP and municipal enforcement
- Public awareness and education
How to Apply:
Appointments are made during fall recruitment or when vacancies arise.
Bylaw Reference:
Municipal Policing Committee Bylaw 2322
Overview:
This regional board hears property assessment complaints and ensures that assessments are fair, consistent, and transparent.
Key Focus Areas:
- Assessment fairness and dispute resolution
- Regional collaboration across West Yellowhead
- Governance under the MGA and provincial regulations
How to Apply:
Board members must complete provincially required training. Recruitment occurs annually or as needed.

Overview:
Hears appeals on subdivision and development decisions from Edson and Hinton. Members ensure transparency and fairness in land use planning.
Key Focus Areas:
- Land use planning and development appeals
- Quasi-judicial decision-making
- Intermunicipal cooperation
How to Apply:
Members are appointed and trained as needed. Recruitment may occur in fall or mid-year.
