Protective Services

In the event of an emergency call 9-1-1 for Fire, Police, or Ambulance.

The Town of Edson has a wide variety of emergency services available to our residents. The Protective Services department also houses our enforcement services (Bylaw Officers), photo enforcement program, emergency planning, and works with our partners on regional initiatives like the 9-1-1 Centre.

Getting to know a new area can be tricky. So can seeking out resources you haven’t ever had occasion to use before, or finding your way as a young adult. Even harder is finding yourself in a situation where you need a little help, but don’t know where to turn. A coalition consisting of Hinton, Edson and Yellowhead County municipalities is aiming to make it all a little easier.

HEY211 is an easy to use, always available directory service now available in the West Yellowhead. Simply dialing 2-1-1 from any phone line in the area, land or cellular, will connect you with a live operator who is there to help you. Also available through this new service is a 24-hour anonymous chat service, and an online directory. The service is accessible to teletype devices, and offers support for many languages.
