Project Budget

The Town of Edson has identified the need for a new gravel roadway along Township
Road 532, connecting 54th Street to 63rd Street, to provide a vital second access point
to 54th Street from the west side. Currently, businesses and the municipal landfill
located south of the railway tracks rely on a single access route, which poses challenges
related to traffic congestion, emergency response, and overall public safety.
This new road will directly address those concerns while supporting increased traffic
volumes driven by continued industrial growth in the area.

Key Project Highlights:

  • Construction of a new gravel road to improve access and circulation
  • Enhanced emergency egress for businesses and critical municipal infrastructure
  • Support for industrial expansion and development in the surrounding area
  • Tree removal and preliminary geotechnical surveying completed in early 2024

The project is currently in the design phase, with design completion anticipated in Summer 2025. In addition, the Town is actively working with a land agent to acquire
additional land required to complete the right of way.

Due to the area's challenging wet conditions, construction is scheduled to begin in late
winter 2025 and extend into 2026, when frozen ground will provide more stable
conditions for conventional construction equipment to operate effectively.
Once complete, this project will significantly enhance access, improve traffic flow, and
strengthen safety and connectivity for businesses, the municipal landfill, and the wider
community. Further updates will be provided as the project progresses.
