Wase Creek Construction

Project includes upgrades on Wase Creek on 1st avenue between Highway 16 overpass and 48th Street to mitigate flooding and drainage issues.
The Town of Edson is moving forward with critical drainage infrastructure upgrades along
Wase Creek, specifically on 1st Avenue between 45 St & 48th Street. This project is a
key part of the Town’s flood mitigation strategy, aimed at reducing the risk of localized
flooding and improving overall stormwater management in the area.
This section of Wase Creek has experienced drainage challenges during significant rain
events, and the planned improvements will help manage runoff more effectively while
protecting nearby properties and roadways.
Project Highlights:
- Strategic upgrades to Wase Creek drainage infrastructure
- Flood mitigation to protect public and private property
- Improved stormwater flow and long-term resilience of the drainage system
The project is currently in the design phase, with design completion anticipated by
early summer 2025. The Town aims to move into the construction phase before mid-
summer, with substantial completion expected by the end of the year.
A land agent is actively working to secure rights of access for geotechnical
investigations and to facilitate the execution of future work plans.
The Town has also received grant funding to support this important initiative, helping to
deliver significant infrastructure improvements with reduced financial impact on local
taxpayers.
Further updates will be provided as the project progresses.
