Water Degas Plant Upgrade Project
The Town of Edson is moving forward with important upgrades to the Water Degas Plant to ensure our water treatment process continues to meet evolving Federal and Provincial regulatory standards for public health and safety.
The upgrades will focus on fluoride reduction and degas treatment improvements,
which are essential for maintaining high-quality drinking water for our community.
Key objectives of the project include:
1. Achieving 4-log virus removal from water leaving the Degas Building
2. Reducing fluoride levels in treated water to a maximum of 1.5 mg/L by
October 1, 2027, with future capability to reach 0.08 mg/L as regulations evolve
The project is currently in the design phase, with design completion expected by the
end of 2025. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2026.
These upgrades reflect the Town's ongoing commitment to protecting public health and
ensuring the delivery of clean, safe, and reliable drinking water for years to come.
Further updates will be provided as the project progresses.
