Creating a Fire Break Around Edson’s Wastewater Treatment Plant
Posted on
To protect critical infrastructure and reduce wildfire risk, the Town of Edson is undertaking a fire mitigation project around the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) site. Over the next few weeks, logging work will take place to establish a fire break around the facility.
Why is this work necessary?
- High wildfire risk is predicted for the coming years.
- Old growth trees and surrounding fields pose a potential fuel source.
- A fire break creates a protective barrier, reducing the chance of fire spreading to critical infrastructure.
What to Expect:
- Logging work is being completed by Country Boyz Oilfield Services Ltd.
- A buffer zone will be maintained around the property.
- The adjacent landowner is aware and supportive of the project.
We appreciate your understanding as this important fire mitigation work takes place.
