On Friday, October 17th, at approximately 2147hrs, Edson Fire was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 4800 block of 18th Avenue in Edson.

The first unit arrived at the fire seven minutes after the dispatch was received, finding a large amount of smoke showing and flames present below the deck, in the crawl space, and in the kitchen. Crews laid a supply line and controlled the fire through the use of three handlines. The fire was quickly brought under control, however, due to the age of the building and sawdust insulation, extensive overhaul was required.

EFD responded with two engines, one heavy rescue, and two command units. EFD was also supported by RCMP, EMS, ATCO, Fortis, and Edson Utilities.
