Reconstruction Project to Begin on 8th Avenue
Starting June 16, 2025, Parkway Enterprises Ltd. will begin a full reconstruction of 8th Avenue between 51st Street and 52nd Street. This much-needed project is being undertaken to address significant surface deterioration, including extensive heaving, bumps, and dips along the corridor.
The comprehensive upgrade will improve the long-term safety, accessibility, and quality of life for residents, while also enhancing underground utility systems.

What’s Happening?
The project includes full property-line-to-property-line reconstruction, with major underground and surface improvements. Key components include:

Full replacement of the water main, including service connections

Replacement of the sanitary sewer, including services and manholes

Installation of a new storm sewer system with manholes and catch basins

Reconstruction of sidewalks, curbs, and gutters

Tie-ins to driveways and sidewalks

New asphalt paving

Boulevard landscaping and drainage improvements
Construction Schedule and Road Closure
Initial mobilization begins the week of June 16, 2025. The affected area of 8th Avenue will be closed from 51st Street to 52nd Street, including the 52nd Street intersection. Parking in the area will be limited, and nearby residents are asked to use adjacent streets.
Work is expected to continue through the summer, with substantial completion planned by the end of 2025.
