The Town of Edson Protective Services Department and other local first responders spent part of the holiday season engaging with the community and spreading awareness about the dangers of impaired driving.

On December 30th, Edson Bylaw Enforcement, along with Citizens on Patrol, Victim Services, Associated Ambulance Edson, the Edson Fire Department, and the RCMP all participated in a Candy Cane Checkstop.

We are happy to report that no impaired drivers were identified at the checkstop and 488 candy canes, donated by Independent Grocers, were given out to motorists following good driving behaviours. Hot chocolate from the Victim Services team and water bottles courtesy of Bannister were also handed out by the first responders during the event.

Thank you to all that participated and to Edson motorists for their patience and for staying sober and safe on the roads.
