Reports from Administration

West Yellowhead Regional Waste Management Authority
Council approved the provision of $471,102 to the West Yellowhead Regional Waste Management Authority for the Town’s portion of the design and construction of MSW Cell #8 using a three-trench design, to be funded from the Revenue Sharing Reserve. Construction of an enhanced cell is a cost-effective way to ensure long-term sustainability of key infrastructure.

Strategic Plan Quarterly Report
Council accepted the Strategic Plan Quarterly Report for information. This is the first quarterly report of the 2022-25 Strategic Plan and highlights current initiatives and the progress made as of December 2022. The Strategic Plan establishes Council’s vision for this term of office (2021-25), based on five strategic pillars which are supported by goals, strategies, and performance measures. The Plan also includes five high-priority strategies for 2022-23.

YCE Multi-Plex Centre Preferred Concept
Council went into closed session to discuss concept design options for the YCE Multi-Plex. The project architects, Dialog Architecture and Engineering, have developed two design concepts for Council to consider.

Council approved the Cost-Effective concept design option for the YCE Multi-Plex, for the purposes of the grant application to the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP). The design includes a new aquatics centre and one new ice surface, the conversion of Memorial Arena to a curling rink facility, upgrading the existing Centennial Arena, and allowing for the addition of a new gym space and walking track on the front of the existing structure.

Council also directed Administration to further investigate costing options for a second ice arena.

Next meeting. The next Regular Council Meeting is scheduled for January 10, 2023, at 7:00 PM
