2023 Tax Auction Reserve Bids. Council set the reserve bids for 2023 Tax Auction. The auction is scheduled for January 17, 2024, at 10:00 am at the Edson Civic Centre.
Northwest Alberta Emergency Resource Agreement. Council authorized the Town of Edson to enter into the Northwest Alberta Emergency Resource Agreement. This is a multi-municipality agreement designed to give communities greater access to equipment and personnel to assist in large scale emergencies. Currently, this agreement covers approximately 18 communities across Northwest Alberta.
Investment Policy. Investment Policy F-I-2 was approved by Council. The updated policy will include quarterly updates to Council and allows for the Town to self-direct municipal short and long-term investments while ensuring security, liquidity, and growth.
YCE Multiplex. Council approved the YCE Steering Committee recommendation to award the Construction Management and Construction Services Contract for the Multiplex to Clark Builders for a fee of 2.6% of the construction budget. The project is expected to break ground in 2024 with an estimated 3-year timeframe for construction. The next stage of the project is to meld the schematic design work with the construction management input to provide cost check estimates to update the master project budget.
Mayor Advocacy. Council authorized Mayor Zahara to join advocacy efforts against the Marine Act Amendment C33.
Motion out of Closed Session. Council approved an amendment to the Edson Medical Centre Agent Corporation Lease and authorized the CAO to finalize the lease. Council noted the intent of the Town purchasing the Medical Centre was to ensure a consistent medical service in the community, and the approved lease adjustments show the Town’s commitment to working proactively with the physician group, in a fair manner, to help retain and attract physicians to the community.
