Council Notes - June 21st, 2022

Purchasing Policy. Amendments have been approved for Purchasing Policy F-P-8. The changes include adjustments to thresholds and procedures, an addition of sole sourcing criteria, provisions for requests for pre-qualification, and some minor language clarifications.

Budget Adjustments. Adjustments were made to the 2022 Budget to reflect current costs, grant funds received, and equipment requirements. The items include an increase in the budget for potential highway crossing lights, an increase in the budget for the Griffiths Park Project to include some grants and donations, snow removal budget adjustments, Transportation Study grant funding, a grant for a Climate Change Resiliency Assessment, and more.

Vision Park Revitalization Plan Adjustments. Council has approved the new Phase 1 site plan for the revitalization project at Vision Park, with the removal of the proposed northeast parking lot. The project required adjustment after tenders came in substantially over budget for the original scope. Based on the current pricing, the plan has been scaled back, but still includes landscaping to improve drainage in lower areas of the park, construction of two 300-foot diamonds suitable for Slo-Pitch and Baseball, and the rebuilding of three diamonds in the northeast area of the park. The new plans do fall within the existing budget. Administration will now put the project out for tender and review parking options moving forward.

Next meetings - The next Committee of the Whole meeting is scheduled for July 12th, 2022, at 7:00 pm. The next Council meeting is scheduled for July 19th, 2022, at 7:00 pm.
