End of Day Update

This is the last update for today.

Water levels are receding but still dangerous to be around floodwaters. Stay clear of flooded areas and embankments.

Fire EWF031, south of Edson is now BEING HELD. This can change as weather conditions change, but it is good news for now.

What to do if you are experiencing flooding

  • Anyone with basement flooding happening is asked to contact the Town Office at 780-723-4401 to register the issue. This helps us track problem areas of town and pass on important information, including Red Cross assistance and waste collection options for flooded properties.
  • Please talk to insurance company PRIOR to throwing anything out.
  • Residents should keep all receipts, document everything (including your time), and contact your insurance company as soon as possible to have them walk you through the emergency.
  • Start thinking ahead to book qualified restoration/cleaning companies now to ensure you’re provided services in a timely manner.

Flood Tips and Safety

  • There are many risks in a home that has been impacted by floodwaters, including sewer backup, chemicals, debris, damaged structures, etc. Please use caution while cleaning.
  • Qualified professionals are recommended to avoid mould issues.
  • Contact your insurance provider they may have specific requirements and preferred companies to deal with.

Town Services

  • The Town Office regular hours at reduced services as staff continue to be deployed to assist in emergencies impacting the Town.
  • Landfill is open regular hours.
  • The Fire Ban has been lifted. This includes permitted recreational fire pits. Permits are required for any other types of burning. Burning of household waste is not permitted.
  • The Water Ban has been lifted.
  • Willmore Park remains closed for safety reasons and to allow for continued firefighting efforts.
  • Kinsmen Spray Park remains closed until further notice due to sewer treatment capacity.

  • The Town of Edson is teaming up with some great community partners to hold a special celebration tonight!
