Structure Fire – Commercial Shop Building
On Saturday, June 28th, at approximately 0040hrs, Edson Fire Department was dispatched for a reported outside fire in the commercial area between 4th and 2nd avenue in the Glenwood area. Upon arrival of the first duty chief, the incident was upgraded to a working structure fire in a commercial shop building.
Edson Fire Department responded with three command vehicles, two engines, a heavy rescue, a water tender, and a utility apparatus. Support was provided by Atco, Fortis, RCMP, and EMS, as well as the Edson Citizens on Patrol group, who reported the fire.
The first arriving engine deployed a 2.5” handline to the interior for fire control, while simultaneous searches took place in the office and storage areas. Later arriving units provided water for suppression, as well as supporting fire control, search, and ventilation operations.
The fire originated in a commercial vehicle inside the shop. Crews kept fire extension limited to the vehicle of origin, although there was extensive smoke damage throughout the building.
The Edson Fire Department would like to thank all the supporting agencies who played a role in the quick mitigation of this incident.
