Edson Fire Department Deploys Crew to Assist with Red Earth Complex Wildfires

This morning at 0800 hrs, the Edson Fire Department deployed five members and one fire engine to assist with wildfire suppression efforts in the Red Earth Complex, following a request from the Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA).

The responding members include Captain Cody Hunter and Firefighters Marc Girouard, Jared Fontaine, Jay Hunter, and Ryan Stephens. These dedicated professionals will be working alongside provincial resources to help protect communities impacted by the ongoing wildfire activity in the region.

“Our team is proud to stand in support of our provincial partners and fellow Albertans during this challenging wildfire season,” said Brad Milton, Director of Emergency Management and Fire Chief for the Town of Edson. “Assisting communities in need is part of who we are, and we are confident our team will make a positive impact on the ground.”

The Edson Fire Department assures the public that this deployment will not impact local emergency response capabilities. Full coverage remains in place to serve the residents of Edson and surrounding areas.

Previously, members had also provided 10 shifts with various firefighters to assist with the fires in Yellowhead County.

We thank our members and their families for their commitment and service, and we wish them a safe and successful deployment.
