Celebrating the Contributions of Our Seniors: Seniors’ Week in Edson

Posted on

The Town of Edson is proud to officially proclaim June 2–8, 2025 as Seniors’ Week, joining municipalities across Alberta in recognizing and celebrating the valuable contributions of seniors in our community.

Seniors’ Week has been recognized province-wide since 1986, inspired by the vision and advocacy of the late Alice Modin. Nearly 40 years ago, Modin campaigned to launch a Seniors’ Day in Strathcona County, an initiative that eventually paved the way for this meaningful annual celebration.

This year, the Town of Edson, alongside our amazing community partners, has planned a full week of free programming and events to recognize and celebrate our senior residents. Events are designed to encourage connection, enjoyment, and community spirit while highlighting the lasting impact seniors have made in shaping our community.

See Family and Community Support Services (FCSS): The Town of Edson and social media channels in the for the full schedule of activities.

Let’s come together to celebrate our seniors and the strength, wisdom, and experience they bring to Edson.
